Castlegarth Restaurant
Seven short years ago we decided to follow our dreams and open our own rural eatery in the heart of the beautiful Ottawa Valley. Our two children have grown up in the restaurant kitchen and the gardens at Castlegarth Farm, and every year we grow a little bit more... this year we are especially excited to announce our covered garden at the farm which extends the growing season and brings you fresh organic vegetables year round.
Celebrating seven years of successful growing, foraging, preparing and presenting local foods.
Because most of our producers live near us, they are our friends, all part of a community working together. By supporting our local producers, we not only provide our customers with the best foods, we also keep jobs in our part of the valley. Please call for reservations.

Best Dam Fries
Look for Colleen's yellow chip truck at the beach. Helen's in Burnstown also boasts great fries, so if you crave some quick carbs and a snack, one is a bit further from White Lake than the other, but both should satisfy your cravings.

The first business to be established here was in 1862 when Mr. Alexander Stirling built a new home on the site of his former one which had been destroyed by fire the previous year.
Mr. Thomas Jones, bought the Stirling property in 1918. He converted the shop into a general store and his wife Maggie carried on a thriving business for twenty-seven years.
In 1991 renovations were done inside and out and it became the 'Stirling House Eatery'. (Today, it is the Castlegarth Restaurant) |
Food, Drinks, Gasoline
Bayview, Cedar Cove, Pickerel Bay and the Marina also all have fuel and a selection of food and supplies.

White Lake Village General Store
Mmmmmm beer. Hours are approximately 8 am to 8 pm 7 days a week (including national holidays, wow, but please check the hours posted on the door to be sure). You can find beer stores in Arnprior and Renfrew if you want, but the General Store has the same prices and selection, and location, location, location. They also take back empties for your deposit (perhaps at the store, perhaps at the ‘barn' across the street, you will have to inquire with Tom and the excellent and friendly staff when you get there for the latest info).
Liquor and Beer, Gas and Groceries, Post office, Lottery, Farm Supply, Clothing, Movie Rental, Grocery, Propane Exchange Facility, Deli Area, Hunting, Fishing supplies and license for MNR, Gift items, Cards, Newspapers, and Maps.

Have had a cottage on the lake for some 20 years... can only access it by boat. Used the ice on and off dates to gauge when I might be able to access the cottage. I am sure a lot of others looked forward to seeing freeze/thaw dates.

I was amaze at this site, didn't realize that White Lake had such a nice site. This is great for people coming from outside. We have a place at Bayview Lodge and I thought I would look at this site, it is very well done indeed.
I hope you keep it up to date.

We should take note of the life we enjoy out here in paradise because more and more outside forces are trying to change it. Special interest groups wish to ban hunting and fishing which would severely hurt our tourism business as well as take food from some of our tables. The food products from our local small farms are under attack from big meat producers and government red tape. Local producers grow for their own table so their products don't get growth hormones or substandard feed. We should use these local resources to keep them here as well as exercise our right to hunt and fish.
